Allen was born in Decatur, AL but grew up in Tuscaloosa, AL. The first time he sat behind a drum set was when he was about 6 or 7 years old. He was able to get his first real drum set when he was 10 or eleven from a neighbors dad who had them stored in his basement but hadn’t played them since college. From then on it was music all the way. He was in every possible band class from junior high all the way through high school including Jazz Band, Marching Band and Symphonic Band. He played with several rock, pop and gospel bands including HUMAN CLAY, Zion's Hill, Billy Rohyn, The Torn Curtain, Tina Shelton and Ashleigh Marie & county road 401 and has also performed in theatrical productions. Besides all of that through out the years, Allen has been involved in the music ministry at his local church. His influences are drummers like Paul Leim, mark Hammond, Jeff Porcarro, Rayford Griffin, Rick Marotta, Bob Gatzen and Steve Gadd.
